The Grand Stand burned down in 1946 while the CNE grounds were occupied by the military. It is rumoured that the fire started in the kitchen of the Officers’ Mess, which was located in the Grand Stand. The CNE’s Casino was located on the first floor of the Grand Stand, as pictured above.
